Fring Brings Free VoWi-Fi to iPhone
April 18, 2008
Fring announced this week a pre-release version of its app for iPhones that enables free VoWi-Fi calls. All you need is the free download and some Wi-Fi access--oh, and an iPhone.
iPhone users rejoice: thanks to the sounds-dirty-but-isnt mobile Internet service and community, Fring, you can now make free VoWi-Fi calls from your iPhone. All you need is the free app and some Wi-Fi access.
Fring is not new, but its previously only been available for non-iPhone smartphones, such as Nokias Symbian phones, and Windows Mobile 5 and 6 handsets.
According to its corporate blog, Fring is the first mobile VoIP app publicly available for the iPhone. A special pre-release version can be downloaded at the Fring Web site. The development team is looking for feedback from users before they release final product, so users who try the beta and see room for improvement can say so and impact the final release.
PDAStreet.com also covered the news and offers more details in its story, "VoIP, Chat Come to the Fringing iPhone."
