Wi-Fi Certified 802.11b CF Card Introduced

Intersil announced today that Z-Com has integrated it's PRISM 2.5 chip set into its new 802.11b-compliant Compact Flash Type II card, dubbed the LANEscape XI-825 CF card.

The LANEscape XI-825 CF card, according to the companies, is the first card of its exact type to receive Wi-Fi certification although there have been product announcements by Linksys and D-Link of a similar nature.

The companies stated that the new PRISM-based CF card support various PDAs and is compatible with Win CE, Pocket PC 2002, ME, 95, 98, and 2000.

The XI-825 is available with Windows 3.0 drivers. Technical specification are available at the Z-Com Web site. The company provided no pricing or availability information.
