Agere Systems released Friday drivers that enable its ORiNOCO line of 802.llb wireless networking products to work with Windows XP.

The company said the drivers are now available with the latest beta version of Microsoft's forthcoming desktop operating system. It said the new drivers support recently-developed security standards for 802.11 networks.

The company said it tested the new ORiNOCO drivers with a variety of other wireless products. Agere formerly was the Microelectronics Group of Lucent Technologies. The ORiNOCO products are widely available for homes and enterprises and a version of ORiNOCO has been rebranded as Apple's AirPort line of wireless networking products.
