Communications software vendor Virata Corporation said this week that it has released a reference platform for creating products that support 802.11b wireless networks.
Communications software vendor Virata Corporation (Nasdaq:VRTA) said this week that it has released a reference platform for creating products that support 802.11b wireless networks.
The reference design is aimed at manufacturers of wireless devices, access points and infrastructure products such as wireless-to-broadband routers. The company said the reference design is aimed at enabling developers to quickly develop the products with built-in 802.11b support. The reference design includes an 802.11b module and drivers from chipset vendor Intersil Corporation and Virata's integrated software on silicon (ISOS) platform, the company said. The drivers are pre-integrated into ISOS, which Virata says will save development time.
The company claims that another time-saver is that developers need not pay separate licensing fees for the drivers.
