>> Wi-Fi Planet Marketplace Be a Marketplace Partner Two New Wi-Fi-enabled Digicams Announced By Naomi Graychase April 18, 2008 Both Panasonic and Nikon have announced that they will be releasing new Wi-Fi-enabled cameras this spring. For Nikon, the new camera comes in the form of the Nikon COOLPIX S52c, an upgrade of the S51c. The 9.0 MP S52c ($299.95) enables users to e-mail images using a Wi-Fi connection. It also supports my Picturetown, Nikon’s online photo sharing and storage service. From there, users can e-mail pictures directly to friends and family, publish pictures to Flickr, or link their photos to blogs and social networking sites. The S52c also feature a “Pictmotion” function that allows users to combine MPEGs and photos to create in-camera slide shows accompanied by music, including songs downloaded from iTunes, viewable on the 3-inch high-res LCD. It will be available to consumers in May in “Vibrant Black.” The Panasonic offering is the Lumix DMC-TZ50 (above) due out next month. It offers 802.11b/g connectivity to any home or commercial Wi-Fi network, as well as access to T-Mobile’s HotSpot service. (12 months of free T-Mobile service—for the camera only--is offered with purchase of the camera.) Using a Wi-Fi connection, users can upload their images directly to Google’s Picasa. The 9.1 megapixel TZ50 ($449.95) features a 28mm wide-angle lens, 10x optical zoom, a three-inch high-res LCD, and the ability to record HD video. The TZ50, available in silver, also incorporates a new and improved version of the Panasonic Venus Engine, which improves noise reduction and reduces the shutter release time lag, among other things.  Stay tuned for Wi-FiPlanet reviews of each later this spring.
